LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA - A wrong way driver entered the 91 freeway eastbound at Carmenita. The driver continued traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the 91 freeway in the HOV lane to just east of Atlantic. That's when the wrong way driver's vehicle collided with another vehicle head-on. Long Beach firefighters extricated two trapped patients. The driver of one of the vehicles is presumed to have succumbed to their injuries during the fiery head-on collision. It is not known at this time if alcohol, drugs or a medical condition are a factor of the driver traveling the wrong way.
