Afghanistan's First Vice President Amrullah Saleh added a new twist to the ongoing crisis. Saleh claimed himself to be caretaker president after Ashraf Ghani fled the war-torn nation. Saleh made the declaration on Twitter, citing provisions of the Afghanistan constitution. He said the first VP becomes caretaker president in his absence, escape or resignation. Amrullah Saleh has not accepted the Afghanistan takeover by the Taliban. He said they haven't lost spirit unlike the US and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Afghanistan's embattled President Ghani fled the country hours before the Taliban captured Kabul. The Islamist group has seized the presidential palace and is poised to form the next govt. #Afghanistan #Taliban #AmrullahSaleh
