🗒PBM Report: BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana State Troopers were suspended after a WVUE Fox 8 News investigation exposed problems with a state traffic ticket program. Four current and/or former Louisiana State Police troopers — Daryl J. Thomas, Wayne Taylor, Byron G. Sims, and Jimmy Rogers were arrested on charges stemming from an investigation of a program that pays overtime for extra police patrols.
State Police said it launched an internal review and suspended the program in called the Local Agency Compensated Enforcement program, or LACE, which involves local parish law enforcement hiring troopers to write traffic tickets.
Thomas and Sims are accused of filing false time sheets claiming hours they did not work, according to court documents, while Taylor and Rogers are accused of falsifying or altering times on traffic citations to make it appear they worked longer hours than they actually did.
