코로나 끝나도 '하이브리드 근무'... 분산 오피스 확대
As the battle agains the pandemic rages on, a growing number of companies in South Korea are introducing hybrid offices.
But employers still challenges in trying to make effective remote working models.
Choi Min-jung explains further.
"Companies in Seoul are joining a new hybrid work trend by using so-called 'dispersed offices', like this one, in many locations across the city."
By using 'dispersed offices', employees can work at the nearest office to their home rather than commuting to the main office.
Experts say this increases efficiency by giving companies and employees more flexibility.
"During the fourth wave of the pandemic, the number of businesses using our hybrid office platforms has increased by around 30-percent on-year. And in some branches by 50-percent."
This trend comes as seven in ten companies in South Korea said they will maintain the current working system, even after the pandemic comes to an end.
With such hybrid work models expected to become even more common in the future, experts say it is necessary to find a way to streamline the company's business,... while at the same time satisfying employees.
"It all depends on how much trust there is between the employer or the boss, and the employee... If there is a climate of distrust in a company, this is not going to work well.... So the reporting requirements, the digital transmission of data, the automated monitoring of what an employee is doing, all of these background digital support systems can help enable a climate of trust to be developed."
Another thing employers should consider is the recruitment of new workers.
"One problem is when new employees join the organization. How are those new employees going to develop a bond with the existing employees if they are hired via zoom?... They have to at some point I think be able to meet with the existing employees of the company."
There are other challenges that employers have to solve,... like keeping employees motivated when they are working away from the main office.
Experts say working in offices with other colleagues will still be important for some workers such as those in sales and marketing,.. as a social environment could help motivate them.
