President Xi Jinping announced on Monday that China will provide an additional one billion doses of vaccines for Africa to battle COVID-19.
President Xi made the announcement in his keynote speech via video link to the opening ceremony of the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which kicked off on Monday evening (Beijing Time).
To help the African Union realize its target of vaccinating 60 percent of African population by 2022, China will provide another one billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines for Africa, including 600 million doses for free and the remaining 400 million doses in ways including joint production, President Xi said.
He said China will also assist African countries in carrying out 10 medical and health care projects, and send 1,500 medical workers and public health experts to Africa.
President Xi put forth four proposals on building the China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
First, uphold solidarity in fighting COVID-19, and effectively ensure accessibility and affordability of vaccines in Africa.
Second, deepen practical cooperation, expand trade and investment, while sharing experience in poverty reduction and eradication and enhancing cooperation in digital economy.
Third, advance green development, advocate the green and low-carbon principle, while actively developing renewable energy and constantly improving capacity of sustainable development.
Fourth, safeguard fairness and justice, confidently uphold just propositions of developing countries, and transform the common aspirations and interests into joint actions.

習主席在周一晚（北京時間）開幕的中非合作論壇（FOCAC）第八屆部長級會議開幕式主題演講中通過視頻鏈接宣布了這一消息。
為幫助非盟實現到2022年為非洲60%人口接種疫苗的目標，中國將向非洲再提供10億劑新冠疫苗，其中6億劑免費，其餘4億劑聯合生產，習主席說。
他說，中國還將協助非洲國家實施10個醫療衛生項目，向非洲派遣1500名醫務人員和公共衛生專家。
習主席就構建新時代中非命運共同體提出四點主張。
第一，團結抗擊 新冠，有效確保非洲疫苗的可及性和可負擔性。
二是深化務實合作，擴大貿易投資，分享減貧和消除貧困經驗，加強數字經濟合作。
三是推進綠色發展，倡導綠色低碳，積極發展可再生能源，不斷提高可持續發展能力。
四是維護公平正義，堅定維護發展中國家正義主張，將共同願望和利益轉化為共同行動。
