The pandemic has had one bright spot! Chess is getting the attention she deserves and I never would have met her had it not been for isolation and the virtual chess BOOM! Of course the increase in mental health issues, domestic abuse, gun violence, job loss, worsening of wealth inequality and young girls being sold into sex trafficking rings when they should be getting the opportunity to become female GMs are major concerns.
The only way to address the root cause of the above issues is to ensure chess never goes away and is accessible to everyone. For chess is the only antidote capable of solving all the world's problems at once. Chess is the one and only miracle which can solve for the most dangerous disease of all! NOT Covid, AIDs or even stupidity. Chess can cure human nature by bringing out the best parts of the human animal and diminishing the bad. How will she do that?
Chess brings out the best in us by helping us embrace our uniqueness while improving our logical thinking skills and ability to see another's perspective. She did it for me.
