ZORO opposed to Manipur government's plan to seize tribal territories

Zo Re unification Organisation ZORO says it will oppose any move to "seize tribal land" by the Manipur Goverment till the end.

On Tuesday, May 31, 20 22, the Zo Re-unification Organization ZORO said it was opposed to the Manipur government's "plan to take away land from the Zo people Chin Kuki-Mizo living in the state's hill areas.

Speaking to the media, the organisation claims that the Manipur government has declared multiple tribal settlements as reserved forests in Manipur state. ZORO pledged to fight against this "invasion" of Zo people's land to the end.

According to ZORO leaders, 70% of Manipur state is inhabited by tribals while valley groups who occupy 30% of the remaining areas are trying to take away lands belonging to the tribals. The organisation accused Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh as the main perpetrator of this agenda.

Zo Re unification Organisation is an interstate organisation that aims to unify and promote brotherhood among Zo, people Chin-Kookee-Meezo around the world.

ZORO, demands release of Dr Mark Thang-mang Haokesp

Zo Re-unification Organisation ZORO, said that it "has taken serious note of the Manipur government's encroachment on tribals' lands" while demanding immediate and unconditional release of Dr Mark Thangmang Haokip.

As ZORO, stands for the Chin-Kuki-Mizo tribes across the globe, it would never allow its people being deprived of their liberty, the statement affirmed, adding that ZORO will continue to fight for the rights of Chin-Kuki-Mizo tribes.

"Therefore, ZORO is proud of Manipur base human rights activist Dr Mark Thangmang Haokip for courageously opposing the Manipur government's land grabbing move and published historical facts on social media.

ZORO vehemently condemns his arrest and detention by the Manipur government and demands immediate and unconditional release, it conxluded.
