After being diagnosed with orthostatic intolerance and suspected PoTS I'm tapering off venlafaxine (Effexor) as this can often make some of the heart-related symptoms worse, and instead will be taking escitalopram for my depression and generalised anxiety disorder. I'm tapering venlafaxine slowly, lowering the dose by 37.5 mg every 2 weeks, and once I'm down to 37.5mg a day, I will add in the escitalopram, before then completely stopping the venlafaxine. Afterwards, I can then start the new medications my specialist has recommended. I'm feeling very hopeful that I might get at least some relief from some of the most troubling of my ME/CFS symptoms. I shall keep you informed!
