Citing the USCCB guidance, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will not provide religious exemption letters to individuals who object to receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. The statement from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is the latest from US Church Leaders regarding coronavirus vaccinations. Earlier this month, bishops in Colorado emphasized the need to respect those with moral objections, and earlier this week, bishops of South Dakota said the faithful should be free to seek a religious exemption from any vaccine mandate. President at the National Catholic Bioethics Center, Dr. Joseph Meaney, joins to tell us what stance the Church has on vaccine exemptions for religious reasons. As more schools and workplaces transition to fully in-person, discussions of vaccine mandates have re-emerged. Meaney shares what the Church says about vaccine mandates. In Italy, there are requirements to have a COVID pass that says you are vaccinated or have tested negative before entering the Vatican museums as well as other indoor gathering places. Meaney gives us his thoughts on that. Boosters are now being recommended for most Americans 8 months after they have been full vaccinated. He discusses how he sees that playing out.
