LewisGale Hospital Alleghany: It's Easy To Dispose Of Old Drugs On Oct. 23, 2021

Derrick Botkins, the Director of Pharmacy at LewisGale Hospital Alleghany, spoke with the Journal earlier today (Thurs., Oct. 21, 2021) about the regional health system's "Crush the Crisis" effort to get old and unused opioid medications out of circulation and into the incinerator. The effort coincides with the DEA's National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 23rd. Area residents may easily and anonymously drop off unused, out of date and unwanted opioids and other medications at WalMart in Covington and Kroger in Clifton Forge from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
(Another big benefit of this program is that by properly disposing of unwanted and unused drugs in this manner, as opposed to flushing them down toilets, the region's water supply doesn't get contaminated.)
